Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation, whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285
Prior to receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, the candidate must prepare him/herself. This involves reading, praying, and discussing one's faith and how one lives out that faith within the church and larger community. Students in our parish school and in our Religious Education Program receive this preparation as a regular part of their learning -- usually in the eighth grade.
Adults who practice their faith with regular attendance but who have not been confirmed should contact Sister Hannah-Mary o'Donoghue, RSM in the Religious Education Office to learn how to prepare for one of the annual celebrations of the Sacrament of Confirmation arranged by the Diocese of Sacramento.
